There is a strong relation between obesity and hypertension and losing weight would definitely be the first step. Diet and and gradual exercise are the components of a lasting weight loss program. The use of a local weight loss program and/or personal trainer and dietician may help.

You should consult your doctor for fitness for exercise and intensity of exercise. Your doctor may also be able to prescribe medication that would help in losing weight and controlling blood pressure. Joining a support group like weight watchers may be helpful. Please keep in mind that losing weight is not easy and it will require persistent effort. Wish you good health!
