A member asked:

What would cause platelets to go from 262 the beginning of the month to 222 at the end of the month? could it be from stopping taking iron, or from menstruation for the last blood draw? rest of blood work was similar but the platelets had a drop. 33?

This "drop" is most probably due to normal variation. The bloodstream can contain varying levels of its components at different times of the month, year. If you are being followed by a Dr who knows your complete history and why these subsequent tests were done, discuss it with them.

These are both normal levels and would not be from either of the possible reasons you mentioned. Your hemoglobin or hematocrit could be lower for those reasons. As long as the rest is normal, I would not worry. If you are still concerned, please discuss with your doctor who would know your medical history...and the reason for having labs done 2x in 1 month.
