A member asked:

Feels like i have mucus in my eustachian tubes from past ear infection again and its been like this for 8 months. vasalva sounds like crackling and squishy sound in ears. is there a good way to get it out or will it come out on its own?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

The Eustachian tubes drain mucus created by the membranes of the middle ear to the throat as well as permitting air to enter the middle ear cavity from the throat when straightened by jaw movement/Valsalva. Some may be more prone to noticeable noise when their allergies or colds are active. I consider this activity a normal feature of a normal structure. I don't treat normal.
