A member asked:

If bmp or cmp are normal, would that rule out hepatitis a or c?

Preliminary liver function test is included in CMP, not BMP. Normal CMP is usually not consistent with acute hepatitis A but CMP can be normal in hepatitis C. There is no chronic hepatitis A.

No. Acute hepatitis would show up as abnormal liver enzymes, but BMP and CMP are not specific tests for hepatitis A or C. You can get vaccine for hepatitis A and B and should take these. Wish you good health!

No. Hep A antibody will suggest prior infection. Hep CAB will be the screening test. Confirmatory test exist
