Can a cbc, cmp or bmp replace a fingerstick test?

Possibly: The fingerstick is considered by the public as the "sugar level" & as such the cmp and bmp have the blood glucose level as part of its information.In practice, physicians may get the cbc, bmp, cmp, and many other tests using a fingerstick technique.The direct draw from a vein often produces more accurate results for some of the tests, done correctly a fingerstick can be accurate for glucose.(sugar).

Maybe: A fingerstick test for hemoglobin/hematocrit would give the red cell info from a cbc. Obviously diabetics use fingerstick checks for blood sugar, which is a component of the chemistry panels. Technology is being developed to look at more -- what do you want to test for?
