A member asked:

Barium swallow test results said esophagus has normal mucosa and no gerd. does that mean no tissue changes and no sign of cancer? endoscopy was normal also. could they have missed something? ive been having chest pain in 1 spot middle of my chest?

Normal means normal. The endoscopy would pick up anything the barium swallow might miss. There are other reasons for focal pain that your doc should discuss with you. I would not consider cancer when these tests were normal.

Tests can always miss early changes, but so far there was no evidence for a condition that can cause you stated symptoms. The diagnostic work up should be extended now to functional disorders vs musculoskeletal for example in order to find the cause for your symptoms.
