There is no definite answer yet, it is still at phase IV FDA clinical study. There are some data from other developed countries but this is still a matter of controversy so there is no FDA black box for this drug yet. However, this drug should not be used for patient with dementia.

I would go to Drugs.com and look up the side effects of long term use and also enter in the drug interaction check. Likely no long term follow up to test the conjuncture that Oxyb contributes to dementia. Then discuss with your Dr.

Oxybutynin can cause mental side effects but is not the cause of Dementia. It is contraindicated in older people and people with dementia.
