Overactive bladder: Oxybutynin relaxes the bladder muscle to reduce unnecessary contractions. A risk of the medication includes relaxing the bladder too much, impairing the bladder's ability to empty, thereby possibly resulting in overflow incontinence. It does take 4 weeks to reach max effect. I also recommend avoid bladder irritants, such as caffeine, spicy foods and alcohol, that can cause urinary frequency.
