Is there any science to avoiding eating fish and dairy together?

Only if you are allergic or intolerant to the food. People with lactase deficiency should avoid dairy. Unless you are allergic to it, there is no reason to avoid fish. It is useful to check the mercury in the type of fish you have in mind. Visit this site for info: https://www.fda.gov/food/consumers/advice-about-eating-fish

There is no reason at all to avoid them together. Any source that says otherwise is mistaken.
