The primary cause of white stains on teeth is Fluorosis (too much fluoride as a child). Continue careful dental hygiene and regular cleanings/checkups for best results. Any other stains can be addressed after your orthodontic devices are removed.

White spots are very common on those who wear braces, it is called demineralization. This happens when bacteria builds up on your teeth and produces acid that damages your enamel that causes the white spots .A poor diet with acidic foods and liquids and poor oral hygiene all contribute. Brush, floss, use a fluoride toothpaste after every meal and fluoride mouthwash. All will help to repair spots.

If you allow bacteria and food debris to collect between your braces and gums, the bacteria will turn the food debris into hydrochloric acid. The acid will etch the calcium out of your tooth enamel which may require removing the dasmaged enamel and placing fillings (average life span 7-10 years). See your Orthodontist for oral hygiene instructions.
