A member asked:

I have been worried because i cut myself with a shared shaving stick that has not been used for days. i don't remember seeing fresh wet blood on it. what's the likelihood of contacting hiv?

Low risk. The HIV virus does not tolerate drying that would occur in the post. Some other viruses like hepatitis B are quite hardy and could be a risk in this setting.

It is not a good idea to use shared shaving stick. It can transmit HIV. The liklyhood depends on whether any one sharing has HIV.. if yes it is very high
