A member asked:

How can i tell if i have ascites or not? i have been told i dont have cirrhosis but am worried and scared. my weight has not changed and no other symptoms?

If you asked this question earlier about wanting to know if you are fat or have ascites, and you have been told that you do not have cirrhosis, you are fat. Quit looking for excuses, reduce your food intake and increase physical activity. Wish you good health!

Hard to self diagnose as symptoms are not specific and abdominal distention can be accounted for by other, more common conditions. Your health related anxiety should be discussed with your docs in trying to find its roots and possible ways of dealing with it.

Ascites occurs mostly in late stages of diseases. Your MD will be able to diagnose it on clinical exam. From your description I doubt if you have it.
