Total thyroidectomy 6.5 yrs ago (no cancer). i havent missed any synth. 137mg pills but labs today show hypo (tsh 11.8, freet3 1.9 & t4 good) my thyroglobulin antibodies are 332 & tpo ab 24.5 high! i thought no thyroid = no antibodies. so why?

If you have no thyroid tissue there will be no T3 so I doubt if you truly had total thyroidectomy or you may have an ectopic thyroid gland. Both T3 and T4 are produced by thyroid tissue, T3 converts to T4 but not in reverse direction. If you take replacement therapy and have no thyroid, we only check TSH and T4 (synthroid = levothyroxine = T4)

Thyroid is not needed for anti-thyroid antibodies. Your TSH level suggests that your dose of Synth is not adequate and you should consult the doctor who prescribed it. Do not be concerned about the antibodies. Wish you good health!
