I have been told that i have diabetic maculopathy in both eyes, and will now be screened again in three months time. im terrified that i will go blind. even if i dont yet, is this what is likely to happen in the future? i am only 40?

Try your best to keep glycemia, HbA1C and systemic blood pressure in optimal numbers so the disease progression will be slowed down. Follow your retina specialist closely as advised, procedure(s) can be done if needed for protecting your eyesight. Good luck and take care.

Macular edema is not uncommon in diabetes, and some medications can cause this in non diabetics. Make certain that any medications you use are not such culprits, and have tight control of your blood glucose. Have seen several folks with macular problems, but their vision remains stable, so, this is not such a dismal prognosis.
