How common are kidney lesions? are they cysts? i was told i have a 5mm low density lesion and concerned?

Benign "cysts" (fluid filled with low density) are common in kidneys, and not generally needful of biopsy or removal. Always consult a nephrology physician for interpretation of the ultrasound results, however.

That is a tiny lesion which is very hard to characterize; however, most likely it is a benign cyst because of the low density and it is the most common finding with renal ultrasound.
