A member asked:

Can decreased blood flow to the brain cause neurogenic type changes such as denervation in the muscles and neuropathy all over body?

This is a hypothetical situation. as usually when the blood supply is suddenly cut off it causes weakness /paralysis by lack of nerve function to affected part which then can cause the muscles to atrophy happens.

What caused the decrease in blood flow? How long did it last? If it was you who experienced the decrease in blood flow, it is highly unlikely that it would have caused any of the lesions you mentioned. Had the decrease in blood flow produced any consequences, the first faculty to go would be your ability to ask this question.

Not at all. Brain is considered "upper motor neurons", while nerves to muscles and peripheral nerves are "lower motor neurons". So, if you have "denervation", it it due to nerve roots emerging from spinal cord or more distal nerve pathology.
