A member asked:

My periodontist would like to do a tooth #4 implant in 2 stages. extract, place bone material, sew up. he also said that an immediate load could be done and that decision is up to me. wow. any opinions as i want to try to avoid an implant failure?

An immediate implant is indicated if you have good bone support. In your case, adding bone to extraction site will give you a better chance of the implant being successful .Being in good health is also a factor for success.

Following my answer to you in your previous post, immediate implant placement is recommended only in certain circumstances. Placing a bone graft, allowing it to heal, and then placing the implant will give you a slightly better success rate. Since # 4 does not impact your smile, waiting to place the implant would help avoid implant failure.
