A member asked:

Had a muscle biopsy done and it says i have chronic denervation, could debilitating muscle cramping be a symptom of this?

It could be. I recommend consulting a neurologist with a special interest in neuromuscular disorders if your current MD appears uncertain with respect to diagnosis, treatment, advice, etc. You may have to call the department of neurology at a university hospital near you to see such a specialist.

Not surprising to experience muscle cramps as one of the symptoms of nerve or muscle pathology. The biopsy raises questions of a nerve disorder, but can be confusing as some metabolic muscle disorders may appear this way, and special techniques are required to uncover the true muscle pathology. Agree that a medical school opinion is now your next step.
