49 yrs old, no period in almost 2 yrs. started bleeding heavy, lasted 1 week. had trans vaginal ultrasound. showed enlarged uterus with heterogeneous myometrium. ill defined endometrium. thickness was 6mm. having d&c with hysterscopy. cancer?

The information you have shared so far does not mean cancer however the D&C with hysteroscopy is diagnostic to find out if there is cancer. It looks like you may have fibroid which is very common by this age and you may be having the bleeding because of the fibroid but it is best to be certain there is no cancer.

At "49", increased stimulation of developing follicles to cause ovulation also increases ovarian estrogen, which thickens the endometrium with consequent breakdown of the lining (endometrium), leading to bleeding which is not a true menstruation. While a biopsy of the endometrium is indicated, it is unlikely to be secondary to early cancer of the uterus.
