Yes, you are correct, such sounds reflect gas passing through the bowels and sometimes they might become embarrassing in meetings, etc due to being too loud. Keeping a log of types of food eaten/ drinks,etc and the amount of noise and gas might help identifying food, many times fermenting, that is prone of causing the problem and trying to avoid it in such situations.
