Not normal: You should see the Doctor who prescribed for your GERD. Your symptoms are concerning! A virus most likely but ODOR of your "burps" DEFINITELY abnormal! Good Luck Hope this helps! Dr Z

Overtreated gerd?: could be over treatment with the proton pump inhibitor which would cause issues with digestion. Since the pH of the stomach secretions would not be sufficient to digest materials for what is called retro pulsive digestion. Essentially the food items sit in your stomach and turn in a bath of secretions to break them down.
