A member asked:

Is there anything that can be done for the neuropathy that is settling into my hands and feet? it is probably caused by poorly controlled diabetes, but i also have deficiencies in vitamin d and b12?

It is more likely that neuropathy is secondary to "poorly controlled diabetes" than related to vitamins D and B12. Best is to see your internal medicine physician to assist in controlling present diabetes, however, if the lack of control has been a chronic condition, neuropathies may not be reversible.

Although diabetes would be far and away, the most likely cause, vitamin B-12 deficiency can cause additive pathology. Medical foods such as Metanx, might help over several months, and better diabetes control might also help. See an endocrinologist and address all of your issues..

B-12 deficiency is a known cause of Neuropathy and B-12 injections par the PCP plus supplementations in Food and Nutrition can address that. Vitamin D deficiency is similarly correctable. Following Diabetic Diet along with exercise and seeing the Diabetic Doctor ( Endocrinologist) will all add to make one more comfortable and healthy.
