A member asked:

I read that vitamin b12 deficiency can cause nerve damage .and nerve damage can cause psychosis and depression.is it true ?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Yes: That's why vegetarianism is so dangerous if you do not know EXACTLY what you are doing. There are also other causes of B12 deficiency and not just pernicious anemia from stomach disease. However, this is not a common cause of depression in young people who do not have physical weakness / numbness. There are a host of other physical causes; a skilled psychiatrist will pick these up.
