You may be able to avoid it for now at your age. However, keep the pattern going through life and it becomes more likely by middle age. People who settle into a lifestyle marked by balanced nutrition, exercise and maintaining a normal weight for size rarely develop this problem.

Getting Diabetes depends on a lot of things especially family history. Eating excessive amount of sweets does not by itself lead to DM unless you continue it for a long period of time ,but in general not good for you. you are aware that you are overdoing sweets you can also control eating them. Cut down on those things and eat a healthy diet and do some exercise or play some sport. You can do it!

If you have a family history of diabetes than stop now or drastically cut back on your intake of sugar and sweets. Your too young to contract diabetes. Do you want a lifetime of pills or injections?
