A member asked:

I eat alot of sugar regularly im very skinny i drink sugary drinks and dont really exercise no one has diabetes in my family could i get it?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Unlikely: You don't get diabetes by eating sugar. You get it if you become overweight and have a family history for diabetes (Type 2). Type 1 diabetes typically does not run in families and is not weight related, but also does not occur because of eating too much sugar.
