It is recommended that one wait 4 weeks after taking antibiotics for another condition before being tested for sexually transmitted syphilis. If the VDRL or RPR test comes back negative, it could mean that the infection was cleared but if positive, it may or may not be cleared& you would have to inform your physician or the public health department to get advice about treatment or further testing

Everything is Normal or non-reactive on test results. Was on cipro and bactrim. Could cipro or bactrim have an effect on the test results for syphilis, herpes or hepatitis? Do either of the antibiotics treat any of those diseases?
