Other than healthy eating and fitness, what else can someone do to lose weight and avoid gaining weight when they have a 9hr/day desk job. how many times ti get up, or how long to move around when i do get up? any tips?

You're certainly on the right track with establishing a low calorie healthy diet and establishing a fitness routine. Sitting at a desk will not burn significant calories, and neither will standing up. Getting up and moving around will help prevent cramping. Vigorous, calorie burning daily exercise before work or after work. Think bicycling, running, stair climbing, swimming, and hiking.
