If this menstrual pain is new you should see a GYN doctor. However, if this pain has been off and on since the time you had period it is not uncommon, you can take acetaminophen or ibuprofen or apply local heat as needed during that time. Contraction of the uterus when having period could be painful which is called dysmenorrhea. Endometriosis is also a common cause of back pain during period.
