What could be the reason for my menstrual cycle to occur twice a month?

Depends on cycle...: A woman with 28-day cycles (or shorter) will occasionally have 2 periods in one month, such as a period beginning August 1 and another beginning August 29. That might happen once a year, because that woman would normally have about 13 cycles in one year.
