Panic attacks/disorder treatment includes medications such as selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors and/or psychotherapy (such as Cognitive behavior therapy) both of which are highly effective. Benzodiazepines are effective but use is limited by risk of abuse/dependency and adverse effects. It is important to have an accurate diagnosis, as it can mimic life threatening medical disorders.

In an emergency situation it is a good idea to have a mild tranquillizing medicine prescribed by your Primary Care Provider or your Psychiatrist. Please see a Clinical Psychologist with expertise in multiple types of psychotherapy for help overcoming anxiety.
