Panic and meds: The best approach is medication such as ssris (ex:prozac, lexapro) and initial use of benzodiazepines such as xanax (alprazolam) or Klonopin to stop the panic and later as needed (rescue) along with cognitive behavioral therapy (cbt).

Panic Attacks.: You need to pull over to the side of the road until the panic attack subsides. It is the only safe thing to do. In the mean time, suggest you work with a therapist who is knowledgable about cognitive behavioral therapy.

rebreathing into a bag may help. During a panic attack people usually breath fast which blows off C02 which can make you feel lightheaded and keep the panic cycle going. Re-breathing into the bag helps restore the balance between oxygen and carbon dioxide.

A 31-year-old male asked:

Can panic attacks (not just anxiety) occur non-stop?

Shouldn't: Usually a panic attack peaks within 10 minutes and then symptoms begin to subside (with possible on-going anxiety). Although there are some people who have experienced multiple daily panic attacks - the active phase should not be continuous.
