A member asked:

A friend of mine took amitriptyline at night before a urine drug test the next day and the results came back negative, can anyone explain why her results was negative when she took the drug barely 12 hours before the drug test?

Not commonly included in common urine drug screens or not tested for. Sometimes amitriptyline can cause a false positive for LSD, but as long as the individual being tested informs the testing entity about all drugs being taken as prescribed, it cannot be held against the patient.

Amitriptyline is not tested for in the usual urine drug screen panel. Taking a drug does not cause a positive result, if the particular drug is not tested for. Common substances tested are opiates, amphetamines, marijuana, and benzos etc. Visit this site for info: https://www.medicalnewstoday.com/articles/326305
