A member asked:

My muscle biopsy report said i have mild neurogenic changes, striated muscle fibers with excess in fiber size variation, few angulated atrophic fibers , and scattered pyknotic nuclear clumps. what can this mean?

Muscle biopsies are generally done to diagnose inflammatory conditions but also genetic & neurogenic muscle disorders. The pathology report appears to diagnose a neurological disorder rather than a primary muscle disorder. Your ordering MD or specialist, who knows the clinical features of your case, can advise you best.

This is best discussed with the doctors who are evaluating you. From your post, appears the muscle abnormalities are secondary to peripheral nerve disease. An EMG/ NCS could classify the type of neuropathy leading to underlying causation. Thus, nerve disorder would cause secondary muscle problems.
