A member asked:

I had a sars-cov2 semi-quant igg ab test result of 542.0 au/ml. i was told this showed vaccine induced antibodies to the spike protein. was that not true? does it mean i had a previous covid infection?

You may wish to inquire with the lab where the test was done. There are separate tests of vaccine induced antibody and antibody induced by viral infection.

A person who was immunized but didn't have COVID infection will have antibodies to spike protein. He will not have antibodies to the ribonucleoprotein, which appear only in people who had COVID infection. A person who had COVID infection will make antibodies to ribonucleoprotein and also to spike protein. A person immunized will be negative for ribonucleotide antibodies. Best wishes.

This SARS-CoV2 Semi-Quant IgG Ab is not from vaccination but from natural immunity, i.e. prior infection. Yes, you were infected with Covid-19, likely within the last couple months.
