Once a person tests positive, the test can remain positive for up to 90 days, sometimes longer. So, your son should isolate for a total of 10 days, if the test remains positive. After 10 days, your son would no longer be considered contagious. Your son can get a vaccine after 10 days, if he is not vaccinated. He should mask when out in public, continue social distancing and hand hygiene. Good luck

Your son should isolate for 10 days from the first positive test. Some schools allow shorter quarantine. At 10 days the transmissibility is less but currently he is still contagious. Watch for signs of shortness of breath and prolonged cough.
