My partner tested positive for covid on 16/7, mild symptoms, no fever. i have similar symptoms but no cough or fever. i tested negative on 7/7 after exposure to covid at work, throat swab. could it have been false neg? should i test now?

Can't say: The incubation period is usually 2 to 14 days (but can be as quick as one day). The median time if 5 days. You have more chance of having an accurate test result if you have symptoms or you wait at least a few days after COVID 19 contact.
