I eat pasta every day. is this bad if i eat the wholewheat version and once a week the lentil version and monitor my overall carb intake? i also eat bread?

This sounds like a very sensible approach and if it is working for you there is no reason for second guessing. There is no agreed "best" diet but focus on regular balanced meals and try to avoid processed sugars (within reason).

Pasta is fine, but a healthy diet should include fruit and vegetables, dairy and eggs among others. Carbs sources should be also diversified. Talk to your physician about being referred to a dietician to have a discussion about improving your diet.
