A "TEE" is usually reliable in looking at cardiac function, and if read as "normal" may not show a mild patent foramen ovale ("PFO"), so both results may be technically accurate, but the one showing a PFO does not necessarily indicate potential clinically significant problems.

TEE is recognized as superior to transthoracic echo in detecting a patent foramen ovale, the bubble test is ultimately the decider. Your cardiologist remains your best reference in reconciling above findings.
