Living in high altitude or heavy smoker are the common causes. Moderate dehydration and certain medication can result the same. If none of these conditions is present and these changes are new, your doctor will check again in 3 months and if the numbers get higher you will be referred to see a hematologist (a specialist in blood disease). Treatment is indicated when Hct goes above 55.

Fit 32y.o. man. RBC 4.53(4.2-5.8), Hgb 13.8(12.6-17.7), HCT 40.9(37.5-51.0).All in range but shouldn't they be higher in men? Lower than all my prev results. Am I borderline anemic? Feel ok. Posted this question before but doc needed specific values.
Should I be concerned with elevated RBC of 6.3 RDW of 17 and low mcv of 70,mch low 21.3, and mchc low 30.6. HGB and HCT are in normal range?
My RBC count was 3.68, HCT 32.4 and HGB 11.1, all well below ref range. How significant is this? One doc said "no big deal," I feel liek it is tho!
