What happens if cervical stump is not closed in subtotal hysterectomy, where does the sperm go?

Cervical stump is ALWAYS closed from the abdominal side in this operation. The sperms do not survive in the stump.

It probably does not go much further as the the nurturing environment of endometrium is not there. Whatever gets through the upper end of the cervix is likely destroyed by macrophages.
