A member asked:

Can i use salt water mouth wash to get rid of gum disease and protect teeth? if so, can you provide an instruction? thanks?

Salt water is great for vigorous rinsing of the mouth specially after meals to get the food particles out to help with gum disease. But if you have gum disease it will not cure it. So if your dentist told you you have gum disease continue the salt water plus whatever else is prescribed

The salt water rinse helps but it is not the cure. A dentist or PERIODONTIST should examine you for a treatment plan and a home care instructions. A do it yourself treatment is not the best method.

No! Gum disease is an infection that requires care by a a doctor, not a splash of salt water. See a bum/bone dental specialist, a Periodontist, for appropriate care. And by all means learn what's wrong with your current Oral Hygiene program so that you can help prevent recurrence.
