A protein level reflects the amount of protein that is found in the spinal fluid, as a water-like ultra-filtrate of plasma. It is quite high when there is break down products of germs and white blood cells & other things. Normal is a good thing.

Since you do not reveal reason for spinal tap, cannot correlate, other than to agree that protein normalcy is a good start. Some tests may have been referred. Discuss with your doctor
