I have a hiatal hernia, i was straining on the toilet as i suffer constipation and ever since ive been feeling extremely nauseous, should i be concerned? ive had this feeling for 5 hours now. what will make it go away?

If you have no vomiting try a little Pepto-Bismol or a ginger drink. To avoid constipation take a stool softner and Miralax as needed. Make fiber part of your diet. If nausea and constipation persists pl see your MD. Hope you feel better

To address constipation - You may take a fiber laxative like Metamucil and drink enough water daily so that your urine is colorless. For the long term you may try to increase your intake of fiber foods. Follow the previous physicians' advice. If your straining significantly aggravated your hiatus hernia, I would expect more chest discomfort, even severe chest pain caused by the stomach being pushed more into your chest.
