IBS is a group of symptoms but I don't see a clear effect on a hiatal hernia. If you take fiber for constipation be sure to drink plenty of water with it or else gas formation can be severe. Drinking hot water or applying heat to the abdomen helps break down gas into smaller bubbles. Drink flat ginger ale for nausea. If you have the urge & can't move, use dulcolax suppository or fleets enema.
