It has to do with the clinical thinking. If believed that pain is still due to internal organs, a CT scan would be better in providing structural information. MRI will have use mostly limited to musculoskeletal structures where it can provide better definition.

Would a CT Scan of the abdomen/pelvic show a colon tumor? Or are those not visible on a CT scan? Normal CT scan... not a virtual colonoscopy one.
Abdominal x-rays, ultrasound bile duct enlarged,mrcp, blood tests, a few days ago a colonoscopy and egd w/polypectomy sessile polyp ascending colon. ulcers/erosions in gastric body. All shows Normal. Yet STILL PAIN mucus&jellylike bowel! OVERLOOKING?
I know the downside of CT or MRI is no biopsies but I don't want traditional colonoscopy. I don't want sedation it freaks me out. I'm just curious if i ever end up needing some type of colon test is an MRI enterography as accurate as colonoscopy?
Abdominal x-ray showed colon thickening. Colonoscopy came back fine. No diverticulitis, etc. Could the X-ray have been wrong or what could have been seen on x-ray that colonoscopy missed? This was x-ray and not a CT. GI did not appear concerned?
