The information you provided is inconsistent. Your hemoglobin could not possibly be 28, it may be your hematocrit. Your iron level is low. Iron absorption is often impaired and getting IV infusion will correct your iron deficiency and may be helpful in providing sufficient iron reserves for your baby as well.

You meant your Hct, not Hb, is 28% so you have moderate anemia. Mild anemia may be present in pregnancy due to dilution but not that low. Iron level alone is not enough to diagnose iron deficiency anemia. We also need TIBC and ferritin level and red cell indices. It's rare to have low iron with American diet so do you lose blood or you have GI problem which prevents iron absorption?
