I would like to know if a resting heartate of 53 to 61 is bad for a 19 year old non athletic 145 pound male? i had covid back in september which wasn't severe but did cause some shortness of breath and all classic symptoms? i'm hyper aware of heart?

A heart rate of 53-61 is not abnormal in a healthy individual. If you are concerned about shortness of breath please have your doctor evaluate you and discuss further with you. I wish you good luck.

That heart rate is not, by itself, abnormal at rest. But should be put in context (with your doctor's help): will it increase with exercise? do you get short-of-breath, especially with exercise? is the rate regular or do you sometimes sense skipped beats? Your doctor may order an EKG, since you had COVID. He may do some other tests. However, without symptoms & a normal exam, you are probably fine.
