34 fit male. having post covid symptoms(shortness of breath, muscle fatigue). scheduled to have echocardiogram friday but read in a support group where one lady had one done and now has heart failure! extremely nervous now! whats the likelihood?

Heart failure : The symptoms you are having can be due to many things, a heart problem being 1 possibility. Echocardiography is a safe painless test that evaluates heart function and does not cause complications.

Post -COVID concern: Sorry you are experiencing these after-effects. Rather than having doctors who don't know you, guess about your odds of having serious cardiac complications, I would hold on a little longer and find out what the doctor says when there is a combination of a medical history, physical examination and echocardiogram results available. A guess on our part would not be very beneficial. Take care.

Post covid: Is your EKG normal? Shortness of breath after covid can be from heart involvement but can also be from residual lung damage. If your echocardiogram shows no evidence of myocardial pathology, a lung CT scan & pulmonary function testing including arterial blood oxygen saturation levels would then be advisable. Anemia is another possibility?. Your MD will advise you.
