A member asked:

Can you have an infection in your gums or have an abcess without any other symptoms? or would there be constant pain that is made worse by touching the area or eating on that side?

Yes, it would be called a subclinical abscess. You don't always need pain or swelling to have an issue.

Many oral infections have mild symptoms that can easily be overlooked by a patient. Symptoms can include redness and mild swelling. If you are having symptoms don’t wait until things progress to intense pain and swelling. See a dentist ASAP for early treatment.
