What is involved in draining a gum (periodontal) abscess to rid infection. is it highly successful without the need for tooth extraction?

Maybe: The abscess formed because an infection inside the tooth drained out into the jaw and then through the gum. You must get rid of the original infection before you can get rid of the abscess. A properly done root canal or a tooth extraction are the only two ways to accomplish this. If advanced gum disease is also present then the tooth usually must be removed.
